Tributes have poured in for an 11-year-old schoolgirl, called a "beautiful angel" who has died from cancer after it cruelly spread this month with doctors having hoped it would be gone by Christmas.
Libby Jones had courageously fought for the past twelve months an aggressive cancer but when it appeared she was winning the battle she suffered a set back and died on August 24, reported CoventryLive.
She underwent radiotherapy, chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant, as well as a seven-hour operation to remove the main tumour in her ribs. The treatment had aimed to help stop the cancer in her knees, hips, spine, shoulders, jaw and under her skull.
Her family received the news they had prayed and waited for in June with medics suggesting she would be clear of cancer by Christmas.
But then, just weeks later on August 11, Libby became unwell and was taken back into hospital where it was found that the cancer had moved to her brain and was even more aggressive.
There was no more treatment available with Libby returning to her Nuneaton home on August 18 and dying six days later.
"We here at The Boxing Clever Academy are devastated to learn of the passing of our member Libby. The bravest girl we ever had the pleasure to meet. Right to the very end Libby fought so hard. RIP ANGEL," wrote the academy on its Facebook page.
"Sad news heaven has a beautiful angel," said one person, and another wrote: "Such sad news fly high angel."
While her family mourn, a GoFundMe page has been set up to give the former Milby Primary School pupil the "send off she deserves".
It says: "We desperately want to give Libby the send-off she deserves and Mara, Megan and Logan deserve this. If you can find it within your heart to be able to donate even £1 it really would make a difference."
So far, over £2,300 has been raised in memory of Libby whose funeral will be on September 5.
