A 10-YEAR-OLD girl has been airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries following a crash which also left two women seriously hurt.
Police were called to a report of a single-vehicle crash in Carnwath, South Lanarkshire, at around 5.40pm on Sunday.
The 10-year-old girl, who was a back-seat passenger, was flown by air ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital campus in Glasgow for treatment to what are described as life-threatening injuries, police said.
The 44-year-old female driver and a 72-year-old woman in the front seat were taken to the same hospital with serious injuries.
Police are appealing for information about the crash, which involved a Volkswagen Golf and happened on the A721 Carnwath Road, east of the junction with Kersewell Avenue.
Sergeant Elaine Scott said: “Our inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this crash and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash and who hasn’t already spoken to officers to contact us.
“I would also ask anyone who was in the area around the time and who may have dash cam or private CCTV which could assist to get in touch.”
The road was closed for investigation and reopened at about 2.15am on Monday.
