Giovanni van Bronckhorst hailed the spirit of his Rangers side for showing great resolve to secure a second extra-time win in the space of four days.
And the Dutchman thanked his super subs for making an impact as they came from behind to beat Celtic and book their place in the Scottish Cup final against Hearts on May 21.
Greg Taylor fired Ange Postecoglou’s men in front but Scott Arfield sent the game into extra time before Fashion Sakala forced Carl Starfelt to turn the ball past his own keeper.
Van Bronckhorst now wants his Rangers players to ensure their season has a silver lining as they chase the Europa League and Scottish Cup.
As they kicked on from an energy-sapping win over Braga in midweek, the Ibrox boss told Premier Sports: “I’m feeling pretty good and very proud.
“It’s been a busy week for us, very demanding physically and mentally and to play two times extra time within four days the players were magnificent.
“The players showed a lot of character, drive and belief to reach the cup final. We had to dig deep and had to change many players but we did it as a team and are very proud to be in the final.
“You bring the subs on to change something and give more energy to the team. All the subs did that and that two substitutions score the goals which is even better.
“The subs at that moment gave the team a lot of energy to go again. It was a tough game because Celtic is a very tough opponent, especially coming off the back of Thursday.
“We started the game very well and had the better chances in the first half and in the second half after conceding we lost a bit of momentum.
“But we knew our character could make the difference. It’s important to be in the final but the most important thing is to win the final.
“Finals are there to be won. We haven’t won anything yet. We have a good opportunity to do so and we’ll work hard every day on the training ground.
“The belief is there we can win the cup as well so that’s what we have to do and it gives us confidence.
“We reached the semi final of the Europa League and the final here and we have to take this week to rest and refresh and next week we’ll be ready.”
The only downside to a euphoric day was an injury to Aaron Ramsey with the Welshman going off in the first half.
Van Bronckhorst said: “Aaron Ramsey had some problems with his hamstring so we have to assess it. He has something, we don’t know yet what it is but he couldn’t play on.”
