Giovanni van Bronckhorst makes 'no fear' claim over Rangers job

GIOVANNI VAN BRONCKHORST insists he has 'no fear' over his Rangers position despite suffering another significant setback against St Mirren.

The Dutchman saw his side squander two more points in what is now a forlorn Premiership title race as James Tavernier cancelled out an opener from Jonah Ayunga with a late penalty.

Rangers were condemned to an embarrassing Champions League campaign and have fallen well off the pace being set by Old Firm rivals Celtic at the top of the table.

And Van Bronckhorst is now fighting for his job as the Ibrox board get set to make a defining decision during the month long break for the World Cup.

Van Bronckhorst said: "I said many times before that if we keep dropping points I am accountable for that. That is what comes from the job.

"Of course I give [the players] instructions, that is my job. We prepare the players as best we can and then they have to put in the performance.

"That is always the case. As I said before, the way we conceded the goal, we had to be sharper.

"Of course [I will speak to the board]. We are going to sit down, that is for sure, and speak about the last couple of months and which way to go forward.

"I have no fear, no. I never have fear. I just see what comes but I don’t have fear.

"We need to [analyse it] of course. It is a five week break before the next game. Time to reflect and rest and recover and then we have two weeks to prepare for the first game against Hibs."
