GIOVANNI VAN BRONCKHORST has vowed to push Alfredo Morelos back to his best and give the striker the chance to fire Rangers to Champions League success this season.
Rangers booked their place in the group stages of the competition with a famous 1-0 over PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday night as Antonio Colak scored the only goal of the game at the Philips Stadion.
The Croatian stood up to be counted when needed as he spearheaded the attack in the absence of Morelos after he was left at home in Glasgow and dropped from the squad amid concerns over his ability to hit the heights required against the Eredivisie giants.
Boss Van Bronckhorst believed the Ibrox talisman, who was sent off in the draw with Hibernian at the weekend, was not in the right mental or physical condition to face Ruud van Nistelrooy's side in the play-off round clash.
But he has now extended an olive branch to the Colombian as he attempts to integrate him back into his squad and get him ready for a glamour Champions League campaign in the coming months.
Van Bronckhorst said: "I think one of the jobs as a coach is to inspire your players for what lies ahead and for us it was the Champions League. Of course you have the fireworks and the day we had.
"And Morelos qualified for the Champions League as well, he qualified for the Champions League as well.
"I think he is also proud that he sees his team-mates and his club qualify for the biggest competition in the world.
"He is still a Rangers player and I will push him the way I can to get him fit and to get the Morelos back that we all want."
