Giovanni van Bronckhorst lifts lid on Rangers dressing room atmosphere after Liverpool hammering

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has lifted the lid on the dressing-room atmosphere at Ibrox following Rangers' huge loss to Liverpool.

The Light Blues went into the Battle of Britain showdown in Govan looking to get off the mark in the Champions League after three defeats at the midway point of the group. Scott Arfield sent the home fans wild and had them dreaming of the famous Europa League nights under the lights when he fired past Alisson Becker after a great team move.

Roberto Firmino levelled from a corner before Connor Goldson was forced off in a major blow to Rangers. He was pictured on a set of crutches after the game with his manager admitting the injuries to the stopper and Ryan Jack 'weren't good'.

Liverpool upped the tempo in the second 45 minutes and smashed home SIX goals including a six minute hat-trick from sub Mo Salah as Jurgen Klopp's men recorded a huge win. Ally McCoist branded the result as 'shocking' for Scottish football on talkSPORT and boss Van Bronckhorst has now revealed the behind the scenes from the thumping.

Speaking after the defeat, he said: "Sometime silence is appropriate.

"The whole locker room was quiet because everyone feels the big loss we had and sometimes when the emotions are very high it's better not to speak and to process the game and pick it up tomorrow."

Motherwell are next up for the hurting Ibrox men this weekend with the Dutchman admitting they have three days to pick themselves up and put things right at Fir Park.

He added: "We have three days to do (pick ourselves up).

"The overall performance, the result, is not the way we want to represent this club. There are no excuses for this performance today from no one.

"We need to accept the criticism. It's part of my job and part of the players' job when they perform like this, you will get criticism and you have to take it on then chin."
