Giovanna Fletcher defends Stacey Solomon from 'ridiculous' trolls as she's criticised over nails

Giovanna Fletcher has slammed mum-shamers who target celebrities online.

The 38-year-old mum-of-three has branded the trolls as “ridiculous” in a rant as she revealed “you have no idea how many tears are being cried”.

The former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! winner hit out at the critics who target celebrity parents during an appearance on Steph's Packed Lunch.

Host Steph McGovern revealed Stacey Solomon had been shamed for indulging in some much-needed time alone by going to get a manicure week after giving birth to her fifth time.

Stacey hit back at a troll who complained about her freshly-manicured long nails earlier this month.

They suggested her latest nails is too 'impractical' for a mum of a newborn in a scathing personal message which Stacey shared to her Instagram story.

She took a video while holding Belle, the newest addition to the Solomon-Swash household, and wrote on it: "Have a day off Wilma, it'll be ok I promise."

The mum-of-five often uses the name 'Wilma' to refer to those who critique her choices on Instagram.

She laughed as she addressed the message in the video: "Well, I think they're really practical. They're great for tickles, head strokes, Belle's absolutely loving them. [She sticks up her pinky] This one's really good for picking out bogies.

"The perfect shape. Oh, will I end up with like poo underneath them at the end of every day? Probably. But I've got a nail brush, I wash my hands. It'll be fine."

Giovanna, who hosts the Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast, was furious about the trolling.

On Steph's show today, she ranted: "It’s ridiculous. Stacey can go and get her nails done if she wants to.

"Any new mum is entitled to do whatever they want that makes them feel good.

"We all know how hard it is, those first few weeks of having a new-born baby at home, they're so difficult.

"Yes, it's amazing the fact that you've been able to bring this life into the world, and we know so many people who would love to be in that position.

"But you've got no idea what's going on beyond that picture.

"You've got no idea how many tears are being cried or you know how much sleep isn't being had and how difficult it actually is."

She concluded: "So mum-shaming, there's no space for it."

Earlier this month, the parenting guru exclusively revealed plans for a “silly, intimate” vow renewal with McFly singer husband Tom after 10 years of marriage.

The pair are hoping to have an informal renewal of vows before too long. Giovanna jokes she’ll pledge "to pick up his wet towels without any resentment"

She told the Mirror: "It’ll be a silly intimate celebration of love. It won’t be anything flash or over the top."

"We can definitely say that we don’t know who we would be without each other in our lives," she added.

"We know each other inside out and I couldn’t imagine being with someone who I felt like I had to put a full face of make-up on for every day, or behave a certain way for. I think confidence within a couple is being allowed to be yourself, and you don’t have to pretend in any way whatsoever. Tom gives that to me, absolutely."

Steph's Packed Lunch is on Channel 4 at 12.30pm every day.
