Giorgos Giakoumakis proved his Celtic allegiance never sleeps as he was spotted wearing club colours at the birth of his daughter. The Greek striker was absent from Artur Boruc's testimonial friendly with Legia Warsaw last night on compassionate leave as his partner went into labour. His baby girl arrived this morning and Giakoumakis shared the news on social media with a heartwarming post.
Captioned "welcome princess," he shared a snap of him lying in a hospital bed with his newborn asleep on his lap. The comments boasted a wealth of congratulations, with everyone from Celtic's official page to former teammate Nir Bitton chiming in. And fans were quick to point out that even on one of the happiest days of his life, he still managed to represent the club - as he was wearing Celtic shorts in the hospital.
One fan wrote: "Celtic shorts in the hospital when your girlfriend is giving birth, what a man." While another commented: "I have so much time for Giakoumakis wearing his Celtic shorts to the birth of his child."
In Giakoumakis' absence, Daizen Maeda and Kyogo took it in turns leading the line in the topsy-turvy 2-2 draw with Polish side Legia. So soon after his wife gave birth, it remains to be seen he'll be involved in Saturday's friendly with Norwich. That comes just eight days before Ange Postecoglou's team kick off their title defence against Aberdeen - a fixture which has completely sold out at both ends.
