Gio van Bronckhorst promises Rangers doubters 'I can turn it around' amid latest injury hammer blow

Rangers boss Gio Van Bronckhorst insists winning is all he is thinking about amid growing fan anger over his tenure.

The 47-year-old retains the support of the Ibrox board despite fed-up punters letting rip in the immediate aftermath of the 2-1 defeat to St Johnstone which leaves them trailing Celtic by seven points. And he insists six points against Hearts and St Mirren are at the forefront of his thinking. Van Bronckhorst was hit with chants to leave and his team have been showered with boos amid the worst ever Champions League campaign in the competition's history.

Record Sport revealed the Ibrox are behind their beleaguered boss as the club's lengthy injury list is viewed as a mitigating factor as they trail Celtic by seven points in the Scottish Premiership. And van Bronckhorst is aiming to get fans onside by producing results. He said: "I am focused on the team and winning games, that is all that matters.

"I believe I can turn it around, all my focus is on winning tomorrow - that is the most important thing. Winning is the most important thing, that is all that matters at the moment. With wins comes confidence and this allows you to play better. Then with players returning from injury, we can continue to improve."

And winger Fashion Sakala has added to the club's bulging injury woes as he will miss Rangers' final two games before the World Cup break. He added: "Lowry is fit but not in the squad for tomorrow, Fashion has a minor muscle issue from Sunday and will be out for a week and back for sure after the World Cup."
