Bringing former Liverpool favourite Gini Wijnaldum back to Anfield on a season long loan would be a smart move, according to ex-Red Jose Enrique.
Dutch international Wijnaldum left the Reds at the end of the 2020/21 season on a free transfer to Paris Saint-Germain. But despite winning the French Ligue 1 title, the move his not been the success that he hope for. The 31-year-old only made 18 starts for the Parisians with a further 13 appearances off the bench last season.
And Liverpool's apparent desire to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham has convinced former Liverpool left-back Enrique that a one year loan deal for Wijnaldum would be the perfect stop-gap for Jurgen Klopp's squad, with reported target Bellingham likely to be far easier to prize away from the Bundesliga in 12 months time.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Enrique said: "You will have him back? They are talking as a loan option. For me it will be great to be honest for 1 season if the club really are going to go all the way for Bellingham next season then I will understand this move it not is better to look at more permanent options."
Prior to joining PSG, Wijnaldum enjoyed a successful five-year spell with the Reds, helping the club to win both the Champions League and the Premier League. A popular player in his time on Merseyside, the Dutchman proved always to be up for the biggest occasions and famously came off the bench to score twice against Barcelona in an unforgettable 4-0 Champions League semi-final triumph in 2019.
