Gin Ne Sais Quoi opening its first venue in Cardiff

Gin and cocktail bar venture Gin Ne Sais Quoi will open its first venue in the centre of Cardiff later this summer in an investment creating 60 jobs.

The business, which saw its first bar open in Swansea in 2018, is taking nearly 7,000 sq ft of space over two floors on the ground floor of the Cardiff Central Library building, which forms part of the wider St David’s shopping centre.

As part of a £3.1m refurbishment it will bringing two together two units formerly occupied by restaurant ventures Gourmet Burger Kitchen and Carluccio’s.

Gin Ne Sais Qui, which as well as its signature cocktails will offer more than 80 brands of gin, was established by Leon Hogan and brother in law Chris Grove.

Co-Founder Mr Hogan: “Gin Ne Sais Quoi has experienced great success at Swansea and the expansion of our brand into Cardiff marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter. After proving to be so popular, we saw there was clearly an opening for our brand and set our sights on St David’s where we are looking forward to showcasing our premium evening experience.”

The addition of Gin Ne Sais Quoi to St David’s follows signing of Thai restaurant Giggling Squid as well as The Ivy Asia, which will open late this year. Chopstix noodle bar is also set to open this summer, located within the Eastside restaurant quarter of St David’s.

Helen Morgan, centre director at St David’s, said: “It’s an exciting time for food and drink with four new destinations set to open later this year. As an entertainment venue with home-grown Welsh roots, Gin Ne Sais Quoi brings something new to the destination and we’re pleased to welcome them to their new home in the iconic Cardiff Library building.”
