Gimme Him: One player Giants would steal from Saints

The New York Giants (2-10) will host the New Orleans Saints (4-8) at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on Sunday afternoon in a Week 14 battle.

That, of course, provides those of us here at Giants Wire the opportunity to hypothetically steal from the Saints’ roster in search of depth and/or talent upgrades for Big Blue for the second time this season.

Despite their poor record, there is a lot of intriguing talent that lines New Orleans’ roster. Tantalizing options include defensive tackle Bryan Bresee, safety Tyrann Mathieu, center Erik McCoy, wide receiver Chris Olave, running back Alvin Kamara, and several others.

Chances are, we likely would have gone with utility man Taysom Hill or cornerback Paulson Adebo this week, but both players are currently on injured reserve (IR) and eliminated from this exercise.

That left us will the following decision: Quarterback Derek Carr or defensive back Kool-Aid McKinstry.

Given where the Giants are and where they appear to be heading, Carr feels like the best fit. He would provide them a solid option under center for the remainder of the season and could, potentially, serve as a bridge quarterback in 2025. It’s beginning to look like the Giants may need one of those and Carr is currently one of the highest-graded quarterbacks in football.

No, he wouldn’t be a long-term solution for the Giants, but if co-owner John Mara keeps the current regime in place, it would allow them to select and develop a possible franchise quarterback behind a veteran with a long resume and a ton of experience.

In nine games this season, Carr has completed 68.1 percent of his passes for 1,926 yards, 14 touchdowns, and just four interceptions.

What are your thoughts, Giants fans? Would you pick Derek Carr or would you steal an entirely different player from the New Orleans Saints?
