- The Long Island courthouse was packed as Heuermann pleaded guilty to seven murders and confessed to killing an eighth woman, Karen Vergata.
- “Do you understand that by pleading guilty, you waive your rights to a fair trial?” the judge asked. “Yes, your honor,” Heuermann responded.
- Family members of the victims wiped away tears as Heuermann was asked about each of the murdered women.
- Heuermann’s estranged wife, Asa Ellerup, leaned forward in her seat when he walked into the courtroom and their daughter, Victoria, was visibly upset and had to be consoled during his confession.
