Giddey, Green in the points but suffer NBA defeats

Boomers teammates Josh Giddey and Josh Green have both had productive outings, but both suffered disappointing NBA losses.

Giddey registered 12 points, seven rebounds and eight assists in Chicago's 142-131 home defeat to Memphis, while also on Saturday night Green had 11 points and five boards as Charlotte went down 125-119 to the Bucks in Milwaukee.

Despite Zach Lavine's 29 points and 26 from Nikola Vucevic, the Bulls slumped to 7-11 for the season, two spots behind the Hornets (6-10) in the Eastern Conference standings.

Scotty Pippen Jr. had a career-best 30 points with 10 assists and Jaylen Wells added 26 points as the Grizzlies (10-7) won their second straight.

Pippen, playing in the arena where his Hall of Fame father's retired number hangs, had 26 points in the first three quarters for Memphis, who have won three of their last four.

LaMello Ball had a double-double, including a game-high 50 points and 10 assists, but Damian Lillard (32) and Giannis Antetokounmpo (31) combined for 63 points to hold off a fast-finishing Charlotte.

Elsewhere, Lauri Markkanen had 34 points, Collin Sexton had four three-pointers in the fourth term and the Utah Jazz ran past the New York Knicks 121-106 to snap a four-game skid.

In Florida, Franz Wagner had 30 points, nine rebounds and eight assists, and the Orlando Magic beat the Detroit Pistons 111-100 for their eighth win in nine games.

Anfernee Simons scored 25 points and Shaedon Sharpe added 24 as the Portland Trail Blazers enjoyed a 104-98 win over the Houston Rockets.

And in San Antonio, the Spurs outscored the Golden State Warriors 33-13 in the final period to run out 104-94 victors.
