The New York Giants hosted a trio of running backs for tryouts in East Rutherford on Tuesday, including former Los Angeles Ram Darrell Henderson.
The 25-year-old Henderson was a third-round pick in the 2019 NFL draft and spent his first three-plus years in Los Angeles. He was waived in late November and promptly claimed by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
That stay was short-lived as the Jags waived Henderson just two and a half weeks later.
In 50 career games (28 starts), Henderson has rushed for 1,742 yards and 13 touchdowns with a 4.4 ypc average. He has also caught 66 passes for 474 yards and four touchdowns.
In addition to Henderson, the Giants worked out running backs Abram Smith and Nate McCrary.
Smith is an undrafted rookie who currently plays for the DC Defenders of the XFL, while McCrary is a two-year journeyman with just a single NFL carry.
None of the three were immediately signed to a contract. Their workouts do not appear to be a reflection on the health of the Giants’ backs, none of whom appeared on Tuesday’s projected injury report.
