The New York Giants will conclude their 2023 season on Sunday afternoon when they host the Philadelphia Eagles at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
The two teams just squared off in Philadelphia in Week 16, where the Eagles came away with a 33-25 win.
While the Giants come into Week 18 eliminated from playoff contention and playing for nothing but pride, the Eagles can clinch the NFC East division title with a win and a loss by the Dallas Cowboys.
Here are three causes for concern ahead of Week 18.
Eagles trying to right the ship before playoffs
The Eagles have already clinched a postseason berth — the only question is where they will be seeded.
While they don’t control their own destiny in terms of winning the division, they can go out on Sunday and secure a win and some momentum heading into the postseason.
The Eagles are losers of four of their last five games and the only game they won in that span was against the Giants on Christmas Day.
This should be a get-right game for Philly and they will likely play aggressively right out of the gate in hopes of getting back on track before the playoffs.
High-powered Eagles offense
Two weeks ago, the Giants struggled to stop the Eagles offense. In fact, Philly had two giveaways that aided the Giants in keeping the game as close as it was.
The Eagles had 465 yards in the game and had 28 first downs on the day — twice as many as the Giants had on the day.
The Giants simply have a do a better job of slowing down the Eagles’ offense if they are going to have a chance in this one.
Ugly history
It’s difficult to be as bad as the Giants have been against their division rivals in recent memory.
Last season, the Giants lost to the Eagles three times — twice in the regular season and then again in the divisional round of the NFC Playoffs.
The Eagles have owned the Giants for the last several years; so much so that it is hard to imagine Big Blue winning on Sunday.
