The New York Giants are looking to get off to a hot start in Year 2 under Brian Daboll just as they did last season in the head coach’s debut.
Big Blue made a number of moves during the offseason to improve the team via free agency, trades and the draft. While it’s clear that general manager Joe Schoen has closed the talent gap between the Giants and their division rivals this offseason, they must now put it together to compete on the field.

Added offensive weapons
The Giants will be sporting a new-look offense starting Sunday. Last season, Big Blue relied heavily on the rushing attack to open up the passing game using the legs of both Saquon Barkley and Daniel Jones.
Now, with the additions of Darren Waller, Jalin Hyatt and the added depth at wide receiver, the Giants will have a number of different ways to attack opposing defenses.
Expect a heavy dose of Waller. And if the Giants have an opportunity to take a shot over the top with Jalin Hyatt, they’ll take it. And that may become a staple moving forward.
The Cowboys will have their hands full with the Giants’ weapons.
Healthy defensive front
The Giants struggled against the run last season and a lack of consistency along the defensive line due to injuries was a big reason why.
The Giants have an improved front seven including the addition of Bobby Okereke and added depth at defensive tackle behind Dexter Lawrence and Leonard Williams.
Big Blue will face their first big task of the season against Cowboys running back Tony Pollard. They should be better against the run given their offseason additions.
Ideally, with the defensive front healthy, they can limit the Cowboys’ rushing attack and make Dak Prescott throw the ball.
Home field advantage
Given the Giants’ struggles in recent years, MetLife Stadium has been packed with Cowboys fans whenever Dallas comes to town.
However, following the team’s success last season, the hype around the Giants ahead of this season is the highest it has been in a very long time.
The Giants have called for a ‘Blue Out‘ on Sunday Night Football and the crowd should be loud for the season opener.
