The New York Giants will take on the Washington Commanders this Sunday in hopes of stopping the bleeding and getting their second win of the season.
The Giants come in as slight home underdogs in this matchup and the Commanders will certainly be no pushover opponent.
Here are three causes of concern ahead of the Giants’ divisional matchup in Week 7.
Overlooking Sam Howell
Sam Howell might very well be the best-kept secret in the NFL this season. Sure, he had a rough week earlier in the year throwing four interceptions. However, he is also a top-10 quarterback this year in passing yards and a top-5 quarterback in terms of completions.
Howell is someone with little experience in the NFL as a starter, but he is quickly gaining confidence and should not be overlooked, especially against a team like the Giants.
Washington pass rush
The Commanders are tied for the sixth-most sacks as a team across the league heading into Week 7.
Not much explanation is needed here. The Giants have been dreadful at protecting the quarterback this season and the injuries on the offensive line continue to pile up. The Washington pass rush could certainly be a major issue on Sunday.
Carryover from loss to Buffalo
The Giants had a dramatic heartbreaking loss to drop to 1-5 on the season this past Sunday in Buffalo on Sunday Night Football.
Blowouts in the NFL or dramatic close games like the one the Giants played on Sunday are usually setups for letdown games the following week.
Head coach Brian Daboll has to get his team to put Week 6 in the past and move on to Week 7.
