Giants select CB Kelee Ringo in latest CBS Sports mock draft

The New York Giants may have made the postseason for the first time in six years and won their first playoff game in a decade last season, but general manager Joe Schoen still has his hands full when it comes to making this team a true contender.

Many positions still need to be filled and one of those is cornerback. The Giants don’t have much depth behind Adoree’ Jackson and the position could be addressed very early on in this year’s NFL draft.

One player on their radar could be Georgia redshirt sophomore Kelee Ringo, a 6-foot-2, 207-pounder who lit up the NFL Combine with a 4.36 40-yard dash this week.

Josh Edwards, in his latest mock draft for CBS Sports, projects the Giants will select Ringo with the 25th overall selection next month in Kansas City.

New York could explore wide receiver help and Tennessee’s Jalin Hyatt would be one to consider. He is a go-ball pass-catcher who is still developing his route-running. However, defensive coordinator Wink Martindale needs lengthy man-coverage cornerbacks to make his scheme work.

This is all dependent on how the dominoes fall in free agency. If the Giants can fill some needs in the secondary via the open market, they might pass here for an offensive piece. But protects like Ringo are hard to find.
