The New York Giants have placed wide receiver and kick returner, Gunner Olszewski, on injured reserve (IR) and elevated linebackers Ty Summers and Tomon Fox from their practice squad.
With Olszewski now on IR, the Giants will be short of their full 53-man roster (plus two practice squad elevations) for the second consecutive week.
Earlier on Saturday, the Giants also added kicker Graham Gano to their injury list with a groin ailment.
They could have chosen to sign kicker Jude McAtamney to their active roster or to elevate him but opted against it. Instead, they went with the elevations of Summers and Fox.
The reason for that is rookie Darius Muasau is out this week and Micah McFadden hasn’t played in a game due to a groin injury he suffered in the Giants’ first preseason game in Houston.
McFadden practiced in full on Friday and is expected to play this week.
For Summers, this is his second standard elevation. He has one remaining. This is the first elevation for Fox, who now has two remaining.
