The New York Giants took one on the chin this past Sunday in Louisiana, falling to the New Orleans Saints, 24-6, in a game that wasn’t that close.
Although not mathematically eliminated from the NFC Playoff hunt, the Giants have guaranteed themselves a losing season — their ninth in 11 years.
It’s time to start preparing for free agency and the 2024 NFL draft.
As we enter Week 16, here’s a look at where the 5-9 Giants place in a multitude of power rankings.

They have the most touchdowns, yards and first downs … in New York, er, New Jersey. But it could be tough to maintain that pace with a Christmas spent in Philadelphia.

Tommy DeVito was injured and Tyrod Taylor couldn’t do much for the Giants. And give credit to New Orleans; the team showed up to play. The Giants did get a field goal from 40 … by their punter.

I don’t know how much magic “Tommy Cutlets” has left. That was an ugly loss to New Orleans in which the team didn’t score a touchdown.

The Giants’ three-game win streak and the emergence of Tommy DeVito as a potentially viable NFL starter gave New York hope that Big Blue could sneak into the playoffs as a Wild Card entrant. But those hopes came crashing down in Week 15 when Tommy Cutlets took seven sacks and the Giants averaged just 3.2 yards per play en route to a 24-6 loss.

Enough with the Tommy DeVito overhype: This offense isn’t very good when Saquon Barkley isn’t rolling and Darren Waller remains limited. The defense has some pop up front at times vs. run and pass, but the back end needs major fixing for Brian Daboll and Wink Martindale.

The Tommy DeVito story was never guaranteed to last long. And there might be some more exciting moments to come this season. But Sunday’s loss, when the Giants never scored a touchdown against the Saints, reminds the Giants that the offseason might start back at square one.
