The New York Giants made a flurry of transactions on Thursday that impacted nearly every aspect of their team — active roster, practice squad and injured reserve.
The team also had a slew of free agents in for workouts and visits with at least one being signed, and potentially more to come.
Here’s a recap of Thursday’s moves.
Blake Martinez out, Tyre Phillips in
The Giants released veteran linebacker Blake Martinez in a shocking move, while claiming offensive lineman Tyre Phillips off of waivers from the Baltimore Ravens.

Injury settlements
The Giants reached injury settlements with two players and removed them off of IR.
Tight ends Andre Miller and Ricky Seals-Jones each reached a settlement. Miller was waived off of IR while Seals-Jones had his contract terminated.
Active list additions
Just a few short days after being shown the door, linebacker Austin Calitro, tight end Tanner Hudson and defensive end Nick Williams were all back.
These were expected moves. The trio (and OL Max Garcia) were all released as vested veterans as part of procedural moves. The Giants needed additional roster space due to the NFL’s gap between waivers claims and injured reserve placements.
Players head to IR
Offensive lineman Shane Lemieux (foot), cornerback Rodarius Williams (knee) and linebacker Elerson Smith (unknown) were all finally, officially, placed on IR.
Head coach Brian Daboll had announced on Wednesday that these three would land on IR.
Practice squad additions
The Giants officially added six players to their practice squad on Thursday. They include offensive linemen Max Garcia and Wyatt Davis, defensive back Tony Jefferson, defensive end Henry Mondeaux, linebacker Charles Wiley and wide receiver Kalil Pimpleton.
Contract terminations
In order to clear space on their practice squad for the incoming players, the Giants were forced to move on from several players.
The practice squad contracts of defensive backs Darren Evans and Nate Meadors, offensive linemen Roy Mbaeteka and Garrett McGhin and wide receiver Jaylon Moore were terminated.
Tryouts/visits
The Giants hosted eight players for tryouts on Thursday. They include the aforementioned Pimpleton, as well as defensive backs Ben DeLuca and Mike Brown, offensive linemen Alex Bars, Yasir Durant and Ross Pierschbacher, tight end Dalton Keene and linebacker Buddy Johnson.
The Giants also hosted defensive back Fabian Moreau for a visit.
