The New York Giants have begun their search to replace defensive coordinator Wink Martindale, who “parted ways” with the team on Wednesday.
In addition to Baltimore Ravens defensive backs coach Dennard Wilson, the Giants also met with Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator Shane Bowen this week.
Bowen is slated to meet with the Jacksonville Jaguars next.

Although Bowen has no direct ties to head coach Brian Daboll, he does have some New England Patriots ties having worked under Mike Vrabel dating back to 2016 — first with the Houston Texans and then the aforementioned Titans.
Bowen first served Vrabel as a defensive assistant and then linebackers coach in Houston before being hired as Tennessee’s defensive coordinator in 2021.
In his first season as DC, the Titans’ defense finished sixth overall in the NFL. They ranked 14th in 2022 and 16th in 2023.
Ryan Cowden, whom the Giants hired as an assistant to general manager Joe Schoen last year, also knows Bowen well from their time in Tennessee.
