Interim GWS coach Mark McVeigh insists he's not worried about a mass exodus of players as rival clubs prepare to pounce on some of the club's emerging stars.
The Giants are reportedly in danger of losing Tim Taranto, Jacob Hopper, Bobby Hill and Tanner Bruhn as the club battles a salary cap squeeze.
Hill attempted to join Essendon during the last trade period, but he's now set to join Collingwood.
Geelong, Richmond and Essendon have all been linked to Hopper, who qualifies for free agency when his current contract expires in 2023.
Taranto is out of contract this season and has been linked with a move back home to Victoria, where Richmond and Collingwood are set to be among the keen suitors.
Bruhn, who is also coming out of contract, could seek a move back to his home state of Victoria as well.
McVeigh is keen to secure the GWS coaching job on a permanent basis, but he's not fretting about losing a core part of the player group.
"It doesn't matter to me. What matters to me is we're open and honest with each other," McVeigh said.
"I've obviously shared my intentions of what I'd like to do, but it's something that at times can be out of your control.
"I'd like to think that we can implement a good footy program ... and make sure everyone is enjoying ourselves and can see us going in the right direction.
"It (the rumours of players leaving) is speculation. I'm here to coach the team, I'm not here to shape the list for the next few years."
McVeigh is reminding his players the final five rounds of the season can have a big impact on their individual futures.
"In the end, whoever ends up coaching our club is watching who they want," McVeigh said.
"I think that's really important, our players need to be reminded of that."
McVeigh has led GWS to three wins from eight matches since the departure of Leon Cameron.
The Giants will be aiming to bounce back from heavy losses to Port Adelaide and Brisbane when they take on Carlton at Marvel Stadium on Sunday.
GWS will be without Jesse Hogan (rested), Josh Kelly (concussion), Connor Idun (broken foot) and Tom Green (rested), but ruckman Braydon Preuss and Adam Kennedy will return.
Green has played all 17 games this season, but the 21-year-old's form has tapered over the past month.
"I want energy towards the end of the season, we need effort. I felt that was slowly declining, not through choice, but just the constant battering of a young kid," McVeigh said.
"I've chosen to freshen him up, make sure he's feeling good, give him a few days away from the club."
