With the NFL trading deadline less than a week away, the trade chatter is getting louder and louder.
The New York Giants, who still consider themselves playoff timber even though they are 2-5, apparently aren’t in the mood to sell off any valued veterans.
You can count star running back Saquon Barkley as one of those valued assets. On Wednesday, head coach Brian Daboll made that abundantly clear.
#Giants HC Brian Daboll told reporters he directly informed RB Saquon Barkley that they are not trading him before next week's deadline.

The Giants still feel that they can make a playoff run as their roster begins to round back into shape. Barkley is an integral part of that plan. He is only signed until the end of the season and will be a free agent come next March unless the Giants use the franchise tag on him again.
The team could also consider signing Barkley to a long-term contract extension, which they apparently remain open to.
What would they get for Barkley in a trade this week, anyway? Probably not a Day 2 pick or even a high Day 3 pick. Not worth it.
