The New York Giants upped their pass rush game this offseason with the acquisition of Carolina Panthers two-time Pro Bowl edge rusher Brian Burns.
Since entering the league as a first-round draft pick out of Florida State in 2019, Burns is just one of three players to record 7.5 or more sacks in each of the last five seasons. Cleveland’s Myles Garrett and Chris Jones of Kansas City — two of the game’s most prominent defensive superstars — are the others.
The Giants traded a second-round draft pick to Carolina in exchange for Burns this past March and then inked him to a five-year, $141 million extension.
Former pro offensive lineman and current NFL Network analyst, Brian Baldinger, caught up with Burns at the “Sack Summit” last weekend in Las Vegas.
Baldinger asked Burns, already considered one of the best at his position, what he wanted to get out of the event.
“Right now, I’m just trying to pick the older guy’s brains. I never really got to sit down with Von (Miller). I talked to Cam (Jordan), and I talked to Maxx (Crosby). Those are guys I usually talk to but now I get to sit around Von and also to the younger guys coming into the league,” he said.

Baldinger then asked Burns about “being in the moment” and making key plays at key moments, which is something Miller has been known to do on many occasions in the spotlight.
“He’s one of the most clutch players even dating back to when (Denver) beat Carolina in the Super Bowl. He knows when to pick his times to pull out his best stuff,” Burns said of Miller.
Even before Burns was drafted, he had a high admiration for Miller.

Seeking counsel and advice from Miller isn’t a bad way to go. Miller is an eight-time Pro Bowler and seven-time All-Pro. He has won two Super Bowls and was named the MVP of Super Bowl 50. His 123.5 sacks are tied for 18th on the NFL all-time sack list.
