Giant rabbit so pampered she has own bedroom, £150 bed and automatic blinds

This giant 3st rabbit is so pampered she sleeps in her very own bedroom and is tucked up every night in a £150 child's bed - so she'd stop booting her owners off the sofa. Continental Giant Mildred has been lounging in luxury since owner Kimberley Harding forked out on the kids' bedroom furniture as an 'early birthday present' for the two-year-old in December.

The 25-year-old, who is the proud owner of five rabbits, says the buns all share a room together but 2ft-long 'princess' Mildred claimed the bed as hers. The 'high maintenance' bunny is regularly caught on Ring camera snoozing blissfully in her bed, with snacks alongside her, while the design teacher 'slaves away at work'.

In addition to high-class sleeping quarters, the rabbits have their own air conditioning systems to keep them cool, automated blinds to keep them shaded from the sun and the radio on all day.

They also nibble on home-made baked treats and have their own Christmas stockings and decorations. Kimberley, from Market Harborough, Leicestershire, said: "We have five rabbits, they've got their own bedroom so they're in their own little space.

"They've got a big bed, which Mildred sleeps on most of the time and then lots of little houses and hides and a litter tray. The breed that she is is absolutely massive.

"My boss gave me a bit of a pay rise, so I decided I was going to get her a little children's bed because she loves the couch.

"Now she has her own little place to sleep, which is really sweet. She has pillows and a duvet on the bed and some soft toys as well which she likes to sleep under.

"She's got snacks right next to her bed [so when] she wakes up she rolls out of bed, and can have some water or food. I tend to work in the bedroom with her, but if I sit on the bed she chases me out. It's her bed, not mine, I have to sit on the floor.

"Before the bed she would just sleep on the couch and because she's so big she fits over all three seats. We'd be sitting on the floor and she'd be on the couch, and we thought 'we can't really get her off'."

Kimberley, who is also studying for a PhD in civil engineering, shared cute pictures on social media of Mildred snoozing on her new bed with the caption 'Mildred, our continental giant, is too chonky for a ’normal’ rabbit bed, so we purchased her own children’s bed.

"Whilst I’m slaving away at work it’s good to know someone is having a lovely snooze."

Not only does Mildred enjoy the lap of luxury when it comes to her sleeping arrangements, but she also has a special pamper routine including constant brushing and 50-mile round trips to a specialist vet. Kimberley said: "She's so high-maintenance and sheds like nothing else, literally like a whole ball of fur.

"We always brush her, and she has a special vet if she needs extra help. All the bunnies get this treatment, but she's the most princessy about it."

Despite her huge and cuddly appearance, the sweet bunny can sometimes be a bit of a diva-like 'attention seeker'. Kimberley said: "If she doesn't get her fur brushed she's so moody, she'll take the brush and just throw it at you.

"She chews loads of things, she destroys loads of things, but only because she thinks that's how they work."

In the run up to Christmas, the five bunnies will be paid a visit by 'Santa Paws' who will feel their stockings up with festive treats and toys. Kimberley said: "We've made their bedroom all Christmassy.

"They've all got their own stockings and there are fairy lights as well. She really likes treats, so we've got her little snacky bits, things to play with, and lots of things to destroy."

Despite tending to be a diva and throwing a strop if not the centre of attention, Kimberley concedes that the 'pooch-like' rabbit is so loveable. Kimberley said: "Mildred is more like a dog than a rabbit, she loves playing with you and her toys and will happily accept any type of fuss and cuddles up next to you for attention.

"She’s not the brightest, often walking into things or getting herself stuck, but she’s very confident and great to everyone. Even though she was a rescue, she has an incredible temperament and would never hurt anyone or anything, except the occasional spider she’s scared of.

"Everyone loves her, and she loves the fuss."
