Gianluca Scamacca has revealed discussions with David Moyes proved crucial in his decision to join West Ham.
The striker’s £30.5million move from Sassuolo was confirmed on Tuesday night, as Moyes finally got the addition in forward areas to provide competition for Michail Antonio that he has been pushing for in recent transfer windows.
Scamacca scored 16 goals in Serie A last season, a tally which resulted in a first international appearance for Italy, and the six-foot-five striker will be hoping to carry that form into the Premier League.
Speaking after move was made official, the 23-year-old revealed his excitement at getting the chance to play in England and his belief that West Ham will prove to be a perfect match for him.
“I am really excited to join West Ham,” said Scamacca.
“I’ve waited a long time for this moment – it’s been a dream to play in the Premier League.
“I feel like West Ham is the perfect team for me. They showed they really wanted me and when I spoke to the manager there was an instant understanding.
“I can’t wait to play and show the supporters what I can do in the West Ham shirt – I hope we will love each other.”
