It seems Celtic striker Giorgos Giakoumakis was an interested viewer as Liverpool beat Rangers in last night's Battle of Britain as he popped up on Instagram applauding the Reds - and his Greece teammate Kostas Tsimikas.
The Hoops' rivals travelled to Anfield in the Champions League last night and were beaten 2-0 but that scoreline could have been much worse for them if not for the heroics of Allan McGregor. Top strikers Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah had an off-night in front of goal for the most part, but a stunning Trent Alexander-Arnold free-kick and a penalty from Salah saw Jurgen Klopp's team pick up a much-needed win in front of a relieved Anfield crowd.
With Andy Robertson injured, Greece left-back Tsimikas stepped in and enjoyed a good game up against Malik Tillman and James Tavernier, who struggled to get Rangers going down the right side. He was stood over the free-kick with Alexander-Arnold before the England defender curled it into the top corner and was the first to congratulate his full-back counterpart when it curled into the back of the net.
And as the Reds social media team shared a snap of the dynamic duo celebrating, a familiar face for Celtic fans popped up in the likes. Giakoumakis shared some love for his international teammate, who he has shared the stage with in nine of his 11 caps for his country.
For Giakoumakis, attentions now turn to RB Leipzig tonight as Ange Postecoglou's team look for the first win of their Champions League campaign to give themselves a fighting chance of qualifying from Group F. They've lost to Real Madrid and drawn with Shakhtar Donetsk so far and with the Ukrainians facing the defending champions, Celtic have the chance to gain some ground on at least one of the top two in Germany.
