Convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell will now earn a tiny wage as a cleaner behind bars after she was moved to a low-security prison, it has been reported.
The former girlfriend of billionaire paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, whom she trafficked young girls for, Maxwell is now behind bars in a Florida jail after being moved this week.
The socialite will earn between 12p and 25p an hour from cleaning toilets and washing dishes at the Federal Correctional Institution Tallahassee.
The job is for an initial reported period of around 30 days, after which she is expected to move on to a long-term job like looking after the payroll for a construction team or working as a clerk.
There are believed to be activities at the jail like frisbee, American football, yoga and pilates for helping inmates to keep fit.
Books are also allowed along with a radio, alarm clock and newspapers.
Tallahassee is where she will serve her 20-year sentence and prison consultants told that her new home will be like 'Disneyland' compared to her last place of confinement, though it is full of people who have committed serious crimes like murder.
It is in the same state where her ex-boyfriend committed many of his own crimes and depraved sex acts. Epstein killed himself in jail in 2019.
Maxwell was previously held for two years at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, where her lawyers claimed she was housed in appalling conditions.
They said microwaved plastic was melted onto the food, while the water was barely drinkable.
Ghislaine was once the favourite child of media mogul Robert Maxwell and frequently mixed in high-profile social circles with the likes of former friend Prince Andrew.
Her current existence is a far cry away from the life she once lived.
A prison consultant warned that Maxwell needs to keep her head down inside the jail.
Holli Coulman, co-founder of Pink Lady Prison Consultants, told the Mail: "There are some people who won't appreciate you or even like you. You need to know how to have those conversations, know when to shut up.
"She must be humble. She's stepping into a world where a lot of these women have been there for a long time. She needs to know that she will be getting out before a lot of them."
It was at the climax of the trial when Maxwell appeared to show some remorse for her actions, telling victims she hoped her incarceration would help them feel a sense of justice and "closure".
She said of her paedophile ex: "[He was] a manipulative, cunning and controlling man who lived a profoundly compartmentalised life and fooled all of those in his orbit.
"It is the greatest regret of my life that I ever met Jeffrey Epstein."
She is expected to be released at the age of 76 on July 17, 2037.
