Gheorghe Hagi eases Rangers expectations as son Ianis nears injury comeback

Gheorghe Hagi has advised Rangers fans not to expect his son Ianis to make an instant return to top form when he makes his injury comeback this month, after visiting him in Glasgow.

Rangers boss Michael Beale has stated he expects to see the Romanian international back on the pitch next month, but it was claimed last week by his former Under 21s boss, Florin Bratu, that Hagi will actually return this month after speaking to the 24-year-old.

Bur Ianis' legendary father, who played for Real Madrid and Barcelona, has pleaded for patience for his son after paying him a visit over the festive period.

Hagi senior said: "I was recently in Scotland to see Ianis and he still has work to do to regain full fitness.

"It is not easy to return to the form he had before his injury after a year's break.

"But he's ambitious and knows this. He'll make it back soon and he will eventually return to his best.

"I am very proud of all my children. In my opinion, it's the greatest satisfaction of parents to see all of their children working at jobs they love.

"It means I can sleep easily at night. I taught them all they had to work and not rely on the family and they have all created a successful career in their own right."
