Get feedback, monitor all schemes, set deadlines, says UP CM Yogi Adityanath

LUCKNOW: After tightening screws on the bureaucracy, chief minister Yogi Adityanath assigned tasks and set deadlines to ministerial colleagues, who would have to spend three days of the week in the districts.

Ministers will utilise the first four days in Lucknow to facilitate official work, execute key projects and ensure seamless implementation of government-run schemes. Of remaining three days of the week, a day will be spent in the district and other two days in respective constituencies.

From Monday to Thursday, ministers will dedicate time to official work, address grievances of people, attend cabinet meeting usually scheduled on Tuesdays and monitor progress of departments under ministries.

Fridays have been reserved for monitoring progress of government-run schemes in districts. During an interaction with colleagues, Yogi sought monitoring of government schemes, while discouraging solo visits to single establishments or areas. He directed elected representatives to stay in government guest houses and circuit houses, instead of putting up at expensive hotels.

Weekends should be spent in respective constituencies, where ministers can meet party cadre and interact with people of the area. They have been specifically told to seek grassroots feedback from workers and people to plug the gaps. During cabinet meetings, ministers can share feedback from the ground for improving delivery of services. In case of exigency or personal work, the schedule could be amended, the CM said.

Most importantly, ministers must set targets for themselves and analyse achievements after 100 days and six months. Similarly, long-term goals will be annually evaluated and a report prepared on completion of work.

Yogi also advised ministers to keep family members and relatives at bay while awarding tenders. Similarly, they would also have to maintain vigil on the conduct of personal staff deputed to assist them. Ministers have been directed to specifically focus on development of rural areas and monitor projects during weekly inspections.
