Bleach London’s founder Alex Brownsell has shared the secrets behind Alexa Chung’s gorgeous, locks on the red carpet of the Met Gala last night.
Last night, celebrities got together in New York for the annual fundraising gala held for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City. This year’s theme was ‘Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty’, to honour Karl Lagerfeld, who was a regular attendee.
Wearing Dublin-based designer, Róisín Pierce, Alexa wore Bleach London’s Instant Coffee Super Cool Colour, £6.50. The Instant Coffee Super Cool Colour transforms hair into a luxe light brown - and best of all? It fades between 3 and 30 washes.
Her look was started one week prior of the event at Bleach London’s Brixton salon. Alexa had her hair coloured by Alisha Dobson using Bleach London’s Instant Coffee Super Cool Colour to mute her sun-lifted ends and warm tones.
Alex wanted to work with Alex’s natural hair texture - defusing her hair to bring out her natural wavy texture.
Speaking about the look, Alex said: “This look was inspired by classic Chanel infused with Alexa’s vibe - bringing the elements of the bows from the outfit into the hair, while playing around with her natural hair texture. We added braids into the front and used them to decorate the Róisín Pierce headpiece. The colour was done at our UK Brixton salon one week prior by Alisha Dobson. Alisha used Instant Coffee Super Cool Colour to take the warm tones out of Alexa’s hair - making the colour more even and adding a luxe glossy brown finish.”
For the Met Gala, Alex started with wet hair and then applied: Paul Mitchell Styling Mousse, L’Oreal Professionnel Liss Control and a little Hair Elixir from Bleach London (£6), she then diffused the hair with Dyson’s Supersonic Dryer to bring out Alexa’s natural texture.
To finish, Alex added in braids: loosely pinning a few back to frame the head piece by Róisín Pierce. She then decorated the braids with silk ivory bows to compliment the colour and style of both the headpiece and dress.
The Hair Elixir, £6, is nourishing serum helps smooth and soften the hair, thanks to the ingredient avocado oil - it's the perfect-post styling treatment to achieve lustrous locks that feel soft and hydrated.
