'Get after them' - Barrow's Pete Wild issues demands for Bolton as Chelsea defender update given

Barrow boss Pete Wild has challenged his side to test themselves against Bolton Wanderers and wants his team to get after the League One side in the Papa Johns Trophy clash.

The Whites are at home to the Bluebirds in the last 32 of the Papa Johns Trophy aiming to reach the next stage of the competition. The Cumbrian side travel to the University of Bolton Stadium as Wanderers boss Ian Evatt takes on his old side.

Barrow are going very well in League Two and sit fourth in the table following the weekend victory against Hartlepool United. Wild wants his side to show what they can do against a team in the division above and has challenged them to get after Wanderers in the clash.

Wild said: “It’s four games from Wembley - why would you not go out and try and get to Wembley so we’re really looking forward to the game, especially with having no game next Saturday. It allows us to really go after this game on Tuesday night and go to a team that’s doing really well in the league above.

“Let’s challenge ourselves, let’s see where we are and see what challenges come from a team in the league above. We’ll be taking lots from the win over Hartlepool into Bolton and hopefully we can start well and really get after them.”

Midfielder Sam Foley is poised to be in action for the Bluebirds, but they will be without Chelsea loanee defender Sam McClelland after he was diagnosed with a hernia and is likely to next be in action in early 2023.

Wild added: “Sam Foley will be ready for Tuesday, we just felt it was a couple of days too early for him. Sam McClelland has now been diagnosed at Chelsea with having a hernia so he’s now going to be out probably until the middle of January."
