World No.1 Gerwyn Price produced one of the most incredible performances in darts history at the SSE Arena in Belfast last night.
The Welsh man hit TWO perfect nine-dart finishes to send the Belfast crowd into raptures as well as nailing another 170 maximum finish in a jaw-dropping display.
Price began the Premier League night of action with a quarter-final win over Michael Smith, where he hit the 170 finish, to set up a clash with Michael van Gerwen.
He hit his first nine-darter in the fifth leg on the way to a gripping 6-5 victory over the Dutchman, Price finishing with a 109 average to reach the final.
To the amazement of fans at the SSE Arena and those watching live on Sky Sports, Price then hit a second nine-darter in his 6-4 victory against James Wade in the final.
Only once before had a nine-darter been produced on the Belfast leg of the Premier League - Adrian Lewis hit one in 2016 against Wade.
Price left with the five Premier League darts points, a cool £10k bonus and glory on a famous night of action.
“Tonight I felt like I couldn’t miss,” Price told Sky Sports.
“Michael played really well against me; that’s the best game me and James have ever had, so I’m just thankful I’m on the right end of these games.
“I’m playing well, I’m feeling good in myself and I think it’s part and parcel to do with me being back in the gym and looking after myself.
“I’m back to almost my best - well, I think I might be there.”
Earlier yesterday, it was revealed that Price, 36, a former rugby league and union star, will make his highly-anticipated boxing debut against former professional Rhys Evans in April.
It is believed the event will take on 9 April at the Valley Tavern pub in Fleur-de-Lis, a venue close to Price’s home town of Markham in the South Wales Valleys.
