Gerry Cinnamon gig organisers promise to fix ticket issues after Saturday chaos

Organisers for Gerry Cinnamon's two-day run of shows at Hampden Park have promised to fix ticketing issues ahead of Sunday night's gig after fans were left waiting over an hour to get in the day before.

Punters who descended on Hampden Park for the first of the Castlemilk-born star's shows took to social media on Saturday night to hit out at issues on the turnstiles. Those who had bought tickets via promoter Music Glue three years ago - before the gig was rescheduled to due the pandemic - reported that the barcodes on their ballots were not accepted by scanners at the doors.

A spokesperson for the event - put on by the promoter in conjunction with Scots concert powerhouse DF Concerts - has confirmed that issues with ticketing systems at Hampden last night have been identified and fixed. Organisers have vowed to avoid a repeat of the issues at tonight's show, which was added due to hugely popular demand after Saturday's performance sold out.

The spokesperson said: “There was an issue with two of the ticketing systems communicating with each other at two points last night. This was identified and rectified as quickly as possible, and fans are thanked for their patience during those points. We are working with the system operators this morning to ensure this does not happen again tonight.”

Concert-goers had raged on Twitter at Music Glue after their briefs failed to scan at the gates of Hampden. One said: "@GerryCinnamon, @musicglue are a complete joke. 3 Tickets bought for today’s Hampden gig 31 months ago. Didn’t post them out when requested. Asked to collect from the venue only to be told there’s no tickets for that name or order number. Ragin doesn’t cover it.”

Another added: “@GerryCinnamon Help!!! Been standing in a queue at Hamden- utter chaos -music glue tickets (originals) won’t scan - no one knows what’s going on been in Queue for well over an hour. Please don’t start without us from this queue!!! Never have I seen anything this before. Shambles.”

Despite the issues, fans greeted Gerry Cinnamon with feverish applause when he appeared at 9.10pm - following sets from The Snuts, The Charlatans and Jake Bugg. The gates open for Sunday night's show at 4pm, but gig-goers are being warned to make alternative arrangements for travel.

Scotrail's temporary timetable is still in effect, meaning no services are running when the event ends. Police made 13 arrests at last night's Hampden show, all men, who were charged with "disorder-related offences".
