Gerry Cinnamon fans 'refused entry' to Hampden show after tickets deemed 'invalid'

Gerry Cinnamon fans were refused entry to his gig after their tickets were deemed "invalid".

Revellers who had queued for hours to get into the show at Hampden Park were told their tickets weren't valid and faced missing the long-awaited show.

A number of attendees took to social media to slam ticketing company Music Glue for the chaos ahead of the first of two shows in Glasgow this weekend. The Castlemilk-born star took to the stage on Saturday night in front of a sold-out crowd.

Gates opened at 4pm with The Snuts, Jake Bugg and The Charlatans supporting the main act but it's understood many spent hours trying to get in after issues were reported with tickets, reports the Daily Record.

Katie Williams told Glasgow Live that there was a delay in entry due to the ticket scanners not working at the turnstile entrances. Staff told fans it was a 'technical issue' and didn't know when it would be fixed.

She added: "People with tickets with barcodes, no QR code, were waiting in lines instructed on the tickets only to be told at the doors that they won't scan and will have to go to the ticket office."

Hampden staff were then forced to replace all tickets that were through Music Glue.

Hayley, who preferred to be known by her first name only, told the Record her son had initially been refused entry and had to queue for over an hour after tickets purchased over three years ago for the concert would not scan at the door.

She said: "We had our tickets sent out in the post from Music Glue, there wasn’t an option for an e-ticket.

"My son called saying the barcode was invalid and wasn’t scanning. There was loads of people with the same problem. Thankfully he eventually made it in."

Others took to social media to report similar issues.

One person said: “@ticketmster @g4s @GerryCinnamon chaos getting into Hampden, legitimate tickets not working. No organisation. No management? What’s the fix?”

Another said: “@GerryCinnamon, @musicglue are a complete joke. 3 Tickets bought for today’s Hampden gig 31 months ago. Didn’t post them out when requested. Asked to collect from the venue only to be told there’s no tickets for that name or order number. Ragin doesn’t cover it.”

A third added: “Sounds like @musicglue have seriously screwed up the @GerryCinnamon tickets. None of the tickets purchased online are working at three are insane queues son tells me to get replacements. Already missed half of it. What a joke.”

Another added: “@GerryCinnamon Help!!! Been standing in a queue at Hamden- utter chaos -music glue tickets (originals) won’t scan - no one knows what’s going on been in Queue for well over an hour. Please don’t start without us from this queue!!! Never have I seen anything this before. Shambles.”

Posting a picture of lengthy queues at the box office, one person said: “Queue for @GerryCinnamon at @HampdenPark JOKE, waited an hour with no help!! Tickets bought over 3 years ago not working… get it sorted.”

Another replied: “Same for my son and friends. The whole thing is a shambles. Valid printed tickets sent out. Could just manually process then in a logical way. Only in Scotland.”

A spokesperson for the event said: “There was an issue with two of the ticketing systems communicating with each other at two points last night. This was identified and rectified as quickly as possible, and fans are thanked for their patience during those points. We are working with the system operators this morning to ensure this does not happen again tonight.”
