Gerry Cinnamon crowd chaos as Hampden revellers queue for hours with 'valid tickets refused'

Chaotic scenes were reported at Hampden Park this evening as Gerry Cinnamon revellers queued for hours as their "valid tickets" were refused.

Fans took to social media to describe difficulties as they tried to gain access to the much anticipated postponed gig. The Castlemilk-born star took to the stage at around 9.10pm on Saturday night in front of a sold out crowd - and he'll be back tomorrow evening for round two after another date was added.

Gates opened at 4pm this afternoon with The Snuts, Jake Bugg and The Charlatans supporting the main act. But it's understood many have spent hours trying to get in after issues were reported with tickets.

Hayley, who preferred to be known by her first name only, told the Record her son had initially been refused entry and had to queue for over an hour after tickets purchased over three years ago for the concert would not scan at the door.

She said: "We had our tickets sent out in the post from Music Glue, there wasn’t an option for an e-ticket.

"My son called saying the barcode was invalid and wasn’t scanning. There was loads of people with the same problem. Thankfully he eventually made it in."

Others took to social media to report similar issues.

One person said: “@ticketmster @g4s @GerryCinnamon chaos getting into Hampden, legitimate tickets not working. No organisation. No management? What’s the fix?”

Another said: “@GerryCinnamon, @musicglue are a complete joke. 3 Tickets bought for today’s Hampden gig 31 months ago. Didn’t post them out when requested. Asked to collect from the venue only to be told there’s no tickets for that name or order number. Ragin doesn’t cover it.”

A third added: “Sounds like @musicglue have seriously screwed up the @GerryCinnamon tickets. None of the tickets purchased online are working at three are insane queues son tells me to get replacements. Already missed half of it. What a joke.”

Another added: “@GerryCinnamon Help!!! Been standing in a queue at Hamden- utter chaos -music glue tickets (originals) won’t scan - no one knows what’s going on been in Queue for well over an hour. Please don’t start without us from this queue!!! Never have I seen anything this before. Shambles.”

Posting a picture of lengthy queues at the box office, one person said: “Queue for @GerryCinnamon at @HampdenPark JOKE, waited an hour with no help!! Tickets bought over 3 years ago not working… get it sorted.”

Another replied: “Same for my son and friends. The whole thing is a shambles. Valid printed tickets sent out. Could just manually process then in a logical way. Only in Scotland.”

A spokesperson for Music Glue said: “There was an issue with two of the ticketing systems communicating with each other at two points last night. This was identified and rectified as quickly as possible, and fans are thanked for their patience during those points. We are working with the system operators this morning to ensure this does not happen again tonight.”

Hampden Park were also contacted for comment.
