Scots singer Gerry Cinnamon could be doing a Kate Bush after one of his tracks opened the new season of Netflix smash hit The Umbrella Academy. The Glasgow-born singer's song Sometimes features in the first scene of the much-anticipated third series of the comic book caper.
The programme, which boasts an all-star cast including Elliot Page, Robert Sheehan and Tom Hopper, dropped on the streaming site this week. Gerry Cinnamon fans were left blown away by the musician's epic achievement and reckon he could be set for Kate Bush levels of success now.
That comes after the legendary star's iconic Running Up That Hill became something of a recent phenomenon, found a new audience and rocketed to number one in the charts across the globe after being used in Stranger Things, despite the fact it was first released in 1985.
One fan on Reddit said: "Just starting series 3 on The Umbrella Academy on Netflix and the first song they use is Sometimes by Gerry Cinnamon. Seems so out of place. I wonder if it will do for Gerry Cinnamon what Stranger Things did for Kate Bush." One said: "Just gave me such a laugh. I was like ‘I know that voice!"

Sometimes was the second release from Gerry's debut studio album Erratic Cinematic which came out in September 2017. Signed to indie record label Little Runaway, the musician's army of fans across the UK sent his album to number 17 in the UK album chart thanks to his cult following.
The record also hit number seven on the Scottish albums chart. It's not the first time Sometimes has hit the A-list.
The star of the new Spider-Man film has revealed he is a huge Gerry Cinnamon fan in a Hollywood interview. The Glasgow singer got a shoutout from Tom Holland last year after he was asked what his favourite song was when he was promoting the new Marvel blockbuster.
The Spider-Man star revealed he is a huge Gerry Cinnamon fan and that Sometimes was his favourite song. He explained to co-stars Zendaya and Jacob Batalon: “I like Sometimes by Gerry Cinnamon.
“He’s a Scottish guy and he sings these absolute belters. He has a song called Belter, it’s glorious.” Tom's girlfriend Zendaya was clearly unaware of the Cinnamon effect and simply responded “how cute!”
Gerry Cinnamon plays Hampden Park on July 16 and 17.
