Germany have named their squad for the last international break before their final World Cup 2026 squad is named this summer.
Julian Nagelsmann's side eased to World Cup 2026 qualification with five wins from six and will have one of the strongest squads at the tournament, with players plying their trade across the top leagues in Europe.
It makes Die Mannschaft one of the favourites for the trophy, but having failed to pass the group stage since their 2014 triumph, they can't take progression for granted.
Given that World Cup win was now nearly 12 years ago, it's little surprise that none of that squad will be in contention this time around.
However, a youthful spine is emerging from the rubble of a difficult few years for Germany, and was beginning to show at Euro 2024, with the likes of Jonathan Tah, Antonio Rudiger and Joshua Kimmich adding experience to bright talents in Florian Wirtz, Lennart Karl and Nick Woltemade to name just a few.
Karl is a new addition to this side that has recently waved goodbye to stalwarts Toni Kroos and Ilkay Gundogan. The 18-year-old is yet to be capped by the senior side, but has been on fire for Bayern Munich this term and is in the March squad.
Germany launched their new home kit in November, too – their last with Adidas.

Manager
Who is Germany's manager?

At 28, Julian Nagelsmann became the youngest manager in Bundesliga history when he took charge of Hoffenheim.
A staple of German football, Nagelsmann's style relies on gegenpressing when his team lose the ball. On the ball, his teams often try and dominate possession.
He is ranked at no.18 in FourFourTwo's list of the best managers in the world right now, and will be looking to add to the three trophies he won with Bayern Munich in his two-year stint.
Germany's Star Player
Who is Germany's star player?

He may not have come to life in a Liverpool shirt just yet, but Florian Wirtz is still one of the best attacking midfielders in the world.
Ranked at no.1 in FourFourTwo's list of the best attacking midfielders in the world right now, Wirtz will undoubtedly find his form eventually, and when with Germany, he usually performs some of his best stuff.
However, Jamal Musiala has now returned to club action following a nasty injury last summer, so Wirtz is set to have plenty of competition heading into this summer's tournament.
