Germany vs Japan lineups: Starting XIs, confirmed team news and injury latest for World Cup 2022 today

Kai Havertz and Thomas Muller both start for Germany in their clash with Japan at the World Cup today.

Werder Bremen's Niclas Fuellkrug Borussia Dortmund’s Youssoufa Moukoko are on the bench as head coach Hansi Flick sticks with a a traditional attacking setup after eight years of false nine experiments under Joachim Lowe.

Fuellkrug, 29, made his debut last week, and scored the winner against Oman, along with Moukoko, who is the youngest player at the World Cup aged 18.

Leroy Sane is out with a knee injury for the Germans, who hand Jamal Musiala and Serge Gnabry starting spots.

For Japan, Takehiro Tomiyasu of Arsenal was rested for the warm-up game against Canada and has to settle for a place on the bench.

Former Liverpool winger Takumi Minamino also misses out and Hidemasa Morita has failed to shake off a calf issue.
