Former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel could be set to make a return to management very soon as German outlet Kicker reports that he could be eyed for the Germany men's national team job. It comes amid doubts over the role currently held by Hansi Flick after a tough World Cup campaign.
The DFB team managed four points from their group stage campaign, but it wasn't enough for them to qualify as their inability to win in their first two games were proven to be costly. It's led to questions over the future of the national team as it was the second successive campaign they failed to make the knockout rounds.
In the wake of the results, sporting director Oliver Bierhoff resigned from his post late on Monday evening. The former striker is a good colleague of Flick, who said in a statement: "My coaching team and I are finding it difficult at the moment to imagine how the gap created by Oliver's departure can be closed professionally and personally."

It remains to be seen where Flick's future in it all may lie, though he has shown he isn't afraid of leaving when he feels things aren't right - such as walking from the Bayern Munich post in 2021. Should that happen, there appears to be a list of available names to choose from.
Kicker reports that Tuchel is among those, having yet to return to football management since his sacking at Chelsea earlier this season. The 49-year-old has also been linked with the England national team role, should Gareth Southgate not be in charge after the World Cup.
He isn't the only one being eyed though as the report adds that former Manchester United interim Ralf Rangnick is also a potential option. Rangnick has been famed for his pressing style, but his tough term at Old Trafford saw him leave for a role as Austria national team head coach.
