Germany has overtaken the US as the preferred study-abroad destination among Indian students, with nearly half of aspirants choosing it as their first option in 2026, according to upGrad Study Abroad’s 2026 report.
The report said student preference for Germany rose from 25% in 2023 to 48% in 2026, marking a 92% increase. The US was the preferred destination for 20% of students.
