A German national has been charged with murder following the death of a 14-year-old boy in 2021.
Lejunae Wood, 42, of Wuppertal, Germany was arrested on Thursday, 4 December at Heathrow Airport on suspicion of murder.
He was taken to police custody and was charged today with the murder of Leajunne Wood.
The charge follows an incident that took place in December 2007 in Hayes when Leajunne, who was four months old at the time, was injured, the Metropolitan Police said.
The force said at the time of the incident, Leajunne's injuries were deemed to be life-changing.
On Monday, 6 December 2021, Leajunne sadly passed away at the age of 14.
Pathologist reports, served in 2023, revealed that Leajunne had died following complications from a severe head injury.
The Met subsequently launched a murder investigation.
Lajaunne’s next of kin have been made aware of this update, and they continue to be supported by specialist officers, the Met said.
Lejunae Wood will appear at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.
