NEW DELHI: Former Barcelona and Argentina coach Gerardo Martino has been appointed as the new head coach of Inter Miami in Major League Soccer, leading to an anticipated reunion with his fellow countryman Lionel Messi.

Martino, affectionately known as "Tata," previously guided Messi during his tenure at both Barcelona and the Argentine national team. He most recently managed the Mexican national team and had prior experience in MLS, where he achieved success with Atlanta United by clinching the championship in 2018.
