Geothermal energy promises a domestic energy supply – the EU needs a strategy

The EU is experiencing its second energy crisis in four years. Countries and households are feeling the impact of dependence on fossil fuel imports, as well as exposure to volatile global gas and oil markets.

Domestic clean electricity can help break this cycle. For instance in Spain, strong growth in renewables weakened the link between gas and power prices, avoiding €10 on monthly power bills for Spanish households during the most recent crisis.
