Georginio Wijnaldum suggests he’s happy at PSG and not pushing for Arsenal move amid transfer rumours

Georginio Wijnaldum has suggested that he is not seeking a move away from Paris Saint-Germain, amid talk of a move to Arsenal.

The Gunners have become strongly linked with the Dutchman in January as part of Mikel Arteta’s pursuit of a new midfielder.

PSG signed Wijnaldum on a free transfer from Liverpool in the summer but reports claim he is already unhappy in Paris. Mauricio Pochettino has not made him a regular starter during the first half of the season although he has played 25 times.

Speaking on PSG’s Twitch channel, Wijnaldum opened up on his situation and discussed learning French as he seeks to continue his “integration” into the team.

Wijnaldum stated: “My integration went well. I arrived at a new club, a new league.

“I learn every day from my teammates and the staff. They all helped me a lot to fit in.

“We get to know each other a little more every day. I'm learning French too, it's important for my integration.”

Lyon midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has also been touted as an Arsenal target this month, with Newcastle reportedly pressing hard for a deal. However, the Ligue 1 side have denied any agreement between themselves and the Magpies.

Wijnaldum is currently out of action due to an ankle injury, and he added: “I knew right away that it was a bit serious.

“Now I'm better but the recovery time varies for each player. During the recovery process, I work very hard, even more than normal.”
