A Georgia mother has been arrested for allegedly encouraging her daughter to snatch an unattended purse at a restaurant after surveillance video of the incident surfaced. The incident took place at The Juicy Crab in Newnan on March 2.
The mother, identified as a 27-year-old woman from Union City, was captured on video instructing her 7-year-old daughter to take the bag from a booth. Following media coverage of the incident, the woman was identified as the offender by the Newnan Police Department.
The woman has been charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and theft by taking. However, her daughter, who carried out the act, is not facing any legal consequences.
Authorities mentioned that the woman declined to provide a statement regarding her actions. After the purse was taken, the group quickly left the restaurant without settling a bill exceeding $500.
Police are also seeking to speak with a man who is believed to be responsible for the unpaid bill. The man, described as wearing a white shirt with the words 'Fake love, rich sex' and having tattoos on both arms, was captured on surveillance footage. Individuals with information on his identity are urged to contact the Newnan Police Department.
The Juicy Crab, where the incident occurred, has not yet issued a statement regarding the incident.
