Several names have been mentioned as potential transfer targets for the Georgia Bulldogs. There has been talk of several wide receivers visiting Georgia. Offers to players in the NCAA transfer portal have been limited until Wednesday evening, when Georgia extended an offer to Charlotte transfer quarterback Deshawn Purdie.
Purdie, a 6-foot-4, 220-pound rising sophomore, originally joined the Charlotte 49ers from Milford Mill Academy in Baltimore, Maryland. His size, experience and potential make him an intriguing addition to the Bulldogs’ transfer considerations as they look to bolster their roster.
A former three-star recruit ranked as the No. 1,669 overall player in the 2024 class, Deshawn Purdie had an impressive freshman season at Charlotte. He threw for 1,802 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions, completing 50% of his passes. His standout performance came against Florida Atlantic, where he passed for a season-high 396 yards and three touchdowns.
Purdie is not a mobile quarterback. He rushed for a negative rushing total (due to sacks) during his time with Charlotte.
Georgia quickly joined the race for Purdie after the Florida Gators, who are currently working to secure an official visit with the rising sophomore. If Purdie joins the Bulldogs he will join a quarterback room with Gunner Stockton, Ryan Puglisi, and Jaden Rashada for next season. Carson Beck does have one year of eligibility remaining and is NFL future is a little bit murkier following his injury.
