George, Charlotte and Louis pose in touching new pictures with Kate to mark Mother's Day

New photos of Princes George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have been released as the royal family mark Mother's Day.

Two pictures showing the children with Kate Middleton were shared on the Prince and Princess of Wales' official Instagram account on Sunday morning (March 19). The family are captured sitting together in a tree wearing summer clothing in one of the images.

In another, Kate is holding Louis in her arms. A caption underneath the post read: "Happy Mother’s Day from our family to yours".

Meanwhile King Charles posted an emotional message on his first ever Mother's Day without mum Queen Elizabeth II, reports the Mirror.

He paid tribute to all mothers around the world and to people who may be missing their mums in a touching message posted on social media. The monarch and Queen Consort shared two photos - one with Charles as a child next to the late Queen Elizabeth II and the other showing Camilla smiling with her mum.

The post, shared on Twitter and Instagram, reads: "To all mothers everywhere, and to those who may be missing their mums today, we are thinking of you and wishing you a special #MothersDay." Another picture showed a young Queen Consort Camilla smiling with her mum, who died in 1994 from osteoporosis.

Prince William shared some Mother's Day cards created by the children in memory of Princess Diana back in 2018. Charlotte's message was particularly moving, written on a fuchsia-coloured card with a hand-drawn multi-coloured heart.

She wrote: "Dear Granny Diana, I am thinking of you on mother's day. I love you very much. Papa is missing you. Lots of love Charlotte xxxxxxxxx".

Meanwhile, older brother George used joined-up writing on bright green card to say: "Dear granny Diana, Happy happy Mother's Day."

In the 2017 documentary Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy, William spoke openly about making sure his children know all about their late grandmother.

He said wants his kids to "know who she was and that she existed" and told how he "constantly" talks to his children "about Granny Diana" at bedtime so that they know “there are two grandmothers in their lives”.
